Audlem & Hankelow Wedding Photography – Jen & Andrew’s Relaxed Cheshire Wedding

Bride and groom on the green opposite the White Lion in Hankelow

If you’re planning a relaxed wedding in Cheshire, Jen and Andrew’s day in Audlem and Hankelow is the perfect inspiration. I’m a documentary wedding photographer based in Nantwich, and this wedding was exactly the kind of laid-back, real, joy-filled celebration I love to capture.

A Church Ceremony in Audlem

Jen and Andrew chose to get married at the beautiful parish church in Audlem, a beautiful Cheshire village. Their ceremony was warm and personal. One of the standout moments was Jen’s dad doing a reading, a lovely touch that set the tone for the rest of the day.

After the vows, everyone headed out onto the steps for the confetti. This part of the day always creates brilliant natural photos: genuine reactions, lots of movement, and plenty of laughter.

Short Drive to The White Lion, Hankelow

Once the confetti had settled, the newlyweds jumped into Andrew’s car and drove over to The White Lion in Hankelow for their reception. The pub is only a few minutes away, making it an ideal spot if you want a relaxed, countryside wedding in south Cheshire.

The White Lion is cosy and picturesque, and also opposite a big open green — perfect for photos!

Natural Couple Portraits on Hankelow Green

After some drinks and hugs with their guests, we wandered onto the green in front of the pub for some couple photos. It’s a stunning area with a duck pond, open space, and weeping willows — a great location for relaxed portraits.

My photography style is documentary and unobtrusive, so I keep this part simple, giving couples space to be themselves. Jen and Andrew were so easy going, and the setting did the rest.

Drinks in the Beer Garden & Speeches Inside

The rest of the afternoon was exactly how a chilled Cheshire wedding should be: beers in the sunshine, wanders around the green, friends catching up, and everyone enjoying the pub atmosphere.

Later, everyone headed inside The White Lion for a meal and speeches. The cosy, informal setting worked perfectly for the couple’s vision. Nothing too formal, just a gathering of their favourite people.

A Lovely, Laid-Back Cheshire Wedding

Jen and Andrew’s wedding is a great example of how beautiful and relaxed a pub wedding in Cheshire can be. No pressure, no fuss — just a brilliant day with brilliant people. It suited my documentary approach perfectly, and I loved capturing all the natural moments as they unfolded.

If you’re planning a wedding in Audlem, Hankelow, Nantwich or anywhere in Cheshire, and you want relaxed, candid photography, I’d love to hear from you.
