September Wedding at Rookery Hall | Cheshire Wedding Photographer

Becky & Rhys' wedding in Nantwich

Rookery Hall's beautiful grounds

September at Rookery Hall has that sweet spot feel - warm sunshine, softer light, and gardens that still look incredible without the peak-summer heat. Becky and Rhys absolutely lucked out with the weather, and the whole day had such an easy, happy energy from start to finish. As a Nantwich wedding photographer, this is my local wedding venue so I have photographed several weddings here, and they're always such a joy and flow so naturally!

Morning Prep in the Main Hotel

Becky got ready in the main hotel at Rookery Hall surrounded by her bridesmaids and her two beautiful little girls, who were also her flower girls.

There’s something really special about having your children involved in the morning prep. The room was full of giggles, snacks, and the girls were very proud to do twirls in their dresses.

As a documentary-style wedding photographer, this part of the day is gold, and I always love having a backstage pass to these special moments.

Ceremony in the Wardle Suite

Their ceremony took place in the spacious Wardle Suite, one of Rookery Hall’s most popular indoor ceremony spaces. It’s bright, elegant and overlooks the lovely gardens.

The girls absolutely stole hearts walking down the aisle, and Becky and Rhys’ ceremony was very relaxed, and full of laughter and emotion. You could feel how solid they are as a couple: relaxed, comfortable, and completely in it together.

Sunshine, Drinks & Garden Mingling

After the ceremony, everyone spilled out into the bar and garden area with drinks in hand. September sunshine meant guests could properly enjoy the grounds which was amazing.

One of the reasons I love being a wedding photographer at Rookery Hall is how smoothly the day flows. The gardens are right there. The bar area works brilliantly for candid guest photos. No one feels herded around, it just naturally unfolds.

Once everyone had mingled, we did the group photos (quickly and painlessly — always the aim!), then I took Becky and Rhys for a wander around the grounds.

Rookery Hall’s grounds are ideal for relaxed couple photos. You don’t need to disappear for ages — just a gentle walk, a few quiet moments together, and beautiful backdrops everywhere you turn.

September light is softer and a little more golden, which made the portraits feel warm and natural without being overly styled. Nothing forced. Just them being them.

Evening Flash Photos Under the Pavilion

Just before the dancing started, we snuck out for a few evening photos under the pavilion. It only took a few minutes, but it gave them something completely different to their daytime portraits.

And honestly? Nipping out for five minutes together before the party kicks off is sometimes exactly what couples need.

Party time

Their first dance was to A Sky Full of Stars by Coldplay, their daughter’s favourite song, which made it even sweeter. The dancefloor filled quickly, the kids went wild, and the atmosphere properly lifted.

They’d also hired a magician to entertain guests during the evening, which was such a good shout. It kept everyone engaged and gave me loads of brilliant reaction shots: shock, laughter, absolute confusion. Always a win.

From there, it was full dancefloor energy and a perfect way to end the day.
